Director of Tax

2025-07-08     Corporate Tools LLC     Post Falls,ID
Description:

We're looking for a Director of Tax or a similar role. The title may vary, but if you seek meaningful, challenging, and fulfilling work, we have the perfect role for you. We operate worldwide and in every state, involving extensive tax work and compliance. Our structure is complex, and so are the problems we face. We prefer candidates who began their careers in public accounting, then moved into the corporate side, accumulating 10+ years of experience making key decisions regarding taxes and compliance.

When we ask you to "tell us about some of your war stories," you should have stories ready—experiences where you outsmarted agencies and stood your ground. You see yourself as a savvy corporate tax partner, not just a desk jockey. You thrive on the challenge and want the ball at the end of the game, even against bigger teams, because you believe you are smarter and more strategic.

You will be the key decision-maker here, shaping our tax strategies. This isn't about preparing stacks of returns for approval; it's about being a trusted partner in our growth and operational structure. We pay a significant amount in taxes and need someone to help us optimize and be as efficient as possible.

This position is classified as "Hybrid," meaning after initial onboarding in the office, occasional remote work is possible. However, the role requires working in our Post Falls, Idaho office 3-4 days per week.

Wage:

Up to $200,000/year + relocation package (if necessary)

  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees
  • Annual performance review with potential raises
  • 22 days Paid Time Off (PTO) annually, increasing to 29 days after 3 years, with flexible time off after 5 years
  • 4 paid holidays: New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave
  • Up to 5% company matching 401(k) with no vesting period
  • Quarterly allowance for home office setup, education, or wellness
  • Open concept office with friendly coworkers
  • Creative environment with meaningful impact
  • No gimmick benefits like free dog walking; focus on valuable perks
  • Trail Mix Bar

Responsibilities:

  • Make strategic tax decisions and serve as the tax expert
  • Lead tax planning and execution to support business growth
  • Stay agile and proactive regarding tax changes
  • Think beyond compliance, integrating business strategy with tax planning
  • Manage audit processes and communications across jurisdictions
  • Oversee annual tax return preparation and review
  • Communicate effectively with non-tax stakeholders
  • Maintain focus and avoid analysis paralysis

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA, CMA, JD, or LLM in Taxation
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
  • Proven decision-making authority in tax matters
  • Willingness to relocate or reside in Post Falls, ID

If you're looking for a high-impact role where your work visibly benefits growth, profitability, and employee benefits, and if you love connecting tax strategies with business success, this is your chance. You have a passion for numbers, problem-solving, and organization. Perhaps you're tired of traditional CPA roles or firm life and seek a place where your expertise truly makes a difference. Corporate Tools might just be the fulfilling career you've been searching for.
