Our client is a community-developed, commercially supported fork of the MySQL relational database management system, making a huge impact on the world.

The Opportunity

Our client's product was built from the ground up to be a scalable distributed database with a simple SQL interface and all the guarantees of a relational ACID database. To test that database, the QA team has built a robust, distributed, scalable test and automation infrastructure to match.

We are looking for Software Engineers in Test to design and build bigger, better, and more brutal tests and tools to validate the functional correctness, performance, and reliability of their software. You will work on challenging problems that ensure our products are the fastest and easiest to use and reliably scale to the maximum while also taking the QA infrastructure to the next level.

Responsibilities

1. Analyzing a complex software system and designing strategies to test this system.
2. Developing comprehensive test plans for product features or subsystems, including verification of functionality, performance, negative/failure, etc.
3. Creating complex and powerful tools and automated test cases, predominantly in Python, leveraging and extending our home-built test framework to maximize code reuse and collaboration.
4. Reproducing bugs based on reports and descriptions.

Qualifications

1. 5+ years of software engineering or test experience, preferably with enterprise software products and/or appliances.
2. Hands-on experience with relational databases and/or distributed computing systems.
3. Excellent programming and scripting skills in at least one language, preferably in Python.
4. Highly proficient in a Linux or Unix environment, especially as a Linux System Administrator.
5. Experience with any one of the industry standard Test Management tools and defect tracking systems.

Bonus Experience and Skills

1. Experience with deploying and testing products in Clouds like AWS and GCP.
2. Experience with virtualization technologies like Docker and container-orchestration systems like Kubernetes.
