Commodity Sales II – Idaho Forest Group
The Commodity Sales II position may be assigned to the Commodity, Specialty, or National Accounts team and is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to drive revenue growth within the lumber market. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the lumber industry, its customers, and market trends. This position requires strong communication and negotiation skills and will be responsible for managing and maintaining key accounts and mill sales production coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage key customer accounts and provide expert advice on lumber products to drive sales and build relationships.
- Analyze market trends and customer needs to develop targeted sales strategies and achieve revenue goals.
- Oversee order processing and ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer requests.
- Train and mentor junior sales staff to enhance team performance and customer service.
- Address complex customer issues and provide solutions to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
- Monitor sales performance and prepare reports to track progress and identify opportunities for growth.
- Manage and coordinate specific mill location or products manufactured by specific mill(s).
- Other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 4-6 years of experience in lumber sales or other commodity-based sales
- In-depth knowledge of lumber products, market trends, and supply chain processes.
- Proven track record in sales with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, Office, Power BI, Sales Force.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to analyze data and adapt strategies to market conditions.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Extended Experience: 6+ years of experience in lumber sales or a related field, with a strong background in commodity lumber transactions.
- Specialized Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of specific types of lumber, market trends, and supply chain processes.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with advanced systems and sales analytics tools.
- Leadership Potential: Experience in mentoring or training junior sales staff, with a demonstrated ability to lead by example.
- Client Relationships: Established relationships with key clients and suppliers, demonstrating a proven ability to build and maintain long-term partnerships.
- Strategic Insight: Experience in developing and implementing effective sales strategies to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Negotiation Skills: Advanced negotiation skills with a successful track record in closing high-value deals and managing complex contracts.
Physical Demands
Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.
