**Tasks of Position**

The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.

* Reporting to work on time, and on a regular basis, prepared to provide excellent service and leadership.

* Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information. (Examples may include: asking guests if they need other products to accompany requested items, chatting about Yokes signature items, fresh board and sweet deal suggestions, or providing information on recipes and products).

* Performing inventory, sales, and other bookwork required to monitor financial performance, ensuring the overall operations and profitability of the cake and specialty desert area of the bakery Department, achieving company budget goals with regard to sales, labor and gross margin.

* Merchandising existing products and new products by using size, shape and color to compliment an area or item to help promote increased sales.

* Directing the entire cake and dessert program within the Bakery Departments, coordinating and participating in preparing, wrapping, serving, and packing types of bakery products while upholding the production and presentation of fresh, quality bakery products ensuring food meets company specifications.

* Providing in-service training to cake decorators and sales staff ensuring they learn exceptional guest service, special features and services offered by the bakery, including preparing cakes and dessert merchandise with the goal of quality improvement and consistency.

* Coordinating promotions or special merchandising programs with Departmental Merchandiser, and Store Manager.

* Developing and maintaining a wedding cake program and a cake formula book for use by each bakery as a guide and standard for the cake and dessert program.

* Finding a way to make our guests happy.

* Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety, food handling safety, sanitation/housekeeping standards, and guest services.

* Participating actively in the Bakery Departments accident reduction plan by ensuring bakery associates are well trained and comply with all safety standards including: : maintaining hood/vents, cleaning floors, sanitizing, and recognizing shelf order, safety features of all machinery, store evacuation plan, robbery policy, health codes for bleach, case temperatures, gloves, bin scoops, sink regulations, and storing regulations.

This positions supervisory responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

* Managing Bakery Managers and secondary supervisors who assist in supervising employees in the Bakery Department.

* Supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of associates in the Bakery Department by performing all duties personally, or through secondary personnel.

* Performing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance in a timely manner; rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

* Possessing and displaying excellent leadership and communication skills in handling associate matters.

* Implementing and enforcing company policies.

**Qualifications**

**Education and/or Experience**

* Associates Degree and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Language Skills**

* Reads, analyzes, and interprets common trade journals, financial reports, and other business documents. Responds to common inquiries or complaints from associates, guests, regulatory agencies, or other members of the business community. Writes business correspondence for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Communicates effectively and pleasantly with fellow associates, executive team, guests, vendors and/or board of directors at all times.

**Mathematical Skills**

* Performs mathematical skills in order to manage a profitable Bakery operation including concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, volume.

**Reasoning Ability**

* Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions in written or oral form. Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

**Other Qualifications**

* Meets the state minimum requirement to work with slicers or other Bakery equipment and tools.

**Physical Demands & Safety Expectations**

Most positions within Yokes require physical effort to varying degrees. As such, associates are expected to be mindful of practicing Yokes safety standards at all times. This may include using personal protective equipment when and where required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards, safe lifting techniques, lockout/tag out procedures, and emergency protocol. All associates are required to report accidents within 24 hours.
