Our Behavioral Rehabilitation Services (BRS) program is on the South Hill in Spokane, WA, and is home to up to 23 kids between 6-13 years old. We have been supporting youth since 1957!

Job Summary:

The Bookkeeper position assists with financial statements like balance sheets, invoices, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. The bookkeeper assists with financial statements, reports, payroll, taxes, budgeting, retirement 403b program, exemption status, employee income, and verification reports.

As a Bookkeeper at Morning Star, your job duties will include:

Essential Functions include but are not limited to :

  • Process accounts payable and receivable. Revenue Cycle management
  • Responsible for agency financial audits and inquiries
  • Make recommendations for reports as needed.
  • Assist in preparing and developing the annual budget by working with executive and program directors.
  • Prepare balance budget/quarterly status.
  • Coordinate any changes in the budget from the administration.
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts, including petty cash
  • Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts, and statements to understand the business's financial state.
  • Monitor a company's financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs.
  • Support the company's financials to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state.
  • File tax forms: Quarterly, yearly, and Transmit income and tax statements.
  • Miscellaneous income forms 1099-Misc.
  • Process W-2 forms.
  • Assist with payroll.

Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Word, Excel, and tax preparation software.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management about the finances of the business and justify certain financial recommendations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills to make accurate calculations and estimates.
  • Organization and project management.

Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Business/Accounting-related field with at least 5 years' experience.
  • Experience in nonprofit and accrual accounting is desired.
  • At least 2 years of recent experience with QuickBooks, Desktop, and Enterprise experience required.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour, depending on education and experience
