POSITION: Short Notice Cook

SALARY: $20.00

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

LOCATION: AAoA, Senior Meal Sites, Reservation Wide

Basic Functions:This is an non-exempt positionassists the senior center head cook with the planning, preparing and serving of nutritionally balanced, cost-effective meals to be served in a congregate setting and delivered to clients at their homes. The Assistant Cook provides assistance with menu planning, food purchases, and maintaining sanitary conditions at the senior center. Employee must have good understanding of senior citizens need, establish and maintain working relationships with clients, co-workers, other program or agency staff and the general public.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • Requires a High School Diploma/Equivalent, GED, or willing to obtain one within a specified period of time.
  • Requires two years successful paid work experience with elderly/senior citizens.
  • Requires physical fitness clearance by medical doctors examination must be provided at time of interview and verify that applicant can lift 25 lbs.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Food Handlers permit, First Aid and CPR card within the 90 day probationary period.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Requires knowledge of food preparation and servinga variety of food in quantity amounts.
  • Must successfully clear criminal history/background check at time of interview and maintain such for duration of employment with the program.
  • Requires the ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Requires the ability to work from written menus/recipes and to adapt standard recipes to preparing dishes for varying number of people.
  • Requires the ability to prepare meals for special diets.
  • Requires the ability to operate and maintain standard cooking appliances/equipment.
  • Requires the ability to work independently and follow line of authority.
  • Requires the ability to establish, and maintain effective/cooperative working relationships with others (Peers, clients, public etc.)

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
