Job Description

As a critical member of the technology innovation leadership team in the fast-growing OPPO Research Center, located at Bellevue, WA, you will be responsible for continuous, successful technology research and development in the computer graphics domain on the latest mobile/embedded platforms, to support the company's products and future directions, including smartphones, internet of things, and next smart devices.

Your role will act like a bridge between academic state-of-the-art research topics and solid industry near-future solutions.

You are responsible for the advancement of OPPO's software technology in the computer graphics domain on both research and engineering fronts.

You will be expected to conduct research on academic and industrial trends, make technology/design choices, and plan and design key technologies targeting OPPO's existing and future products.

Responsibilities

1. Incubate new long/short term projects to advance OPPO's software technology in the computer graphics domain.
2. Research academic and industrial trends in the latest computer graphics field.
3. Architect future graphics subsystems & features on existing or conceptual products.
4. Lead architectural discussions for key features related to computer graphics.
5. Evaluate architectural choices and decisions made by others, formulating alternatives when needed.
6. Architect mid to long-term tangible R&D roadmap in the computer graphics field for the next 3-5 years.
7. Drive innovative collaborations (brainstorm, research discussion, market research, forums) across stakeholders inside and outside the company.
8. Analyze and pinpoint improvement directions for existing projects for better performance, reliability, and usability.
9. Work with the engineering manager to ensure the architectural design is properly implemented by the engineering team.
10. Oversee the entire research and development workflow.
11. Resolve advanced research and engineering issues independently.
12. Mentor junior team members.

Basic Qualifications

1. Master's in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience with a focus on computer graphics and real-time rendering.
2. 10+ years of experience working in computer graphics, real-time rendering, computer game programming, GPU programming, and related fields.
3. 10+ years of experience in C++ programming.
4. Expertise in all popular modern rendering APIs, including DirectX, OpenGL, and Vulkan.
5. Expertise in GPU rendering pipeline.
6. Expertise in GPU architecture.
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
8. Experience with mobile/embedded development environments.
9. Passion for computer graphics and its applications.
10. Familiarity with Linux development environments and general software engineering workflows and toolsets.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Familiarity with CUDA programming.
2. Familiarity with popular game engines like Unreal and Unity.
3. Familiarity with digital content creation tools & pipelines, including but not limited to Maya, 3ds Max, and Blender.
4. Experience with commercial game development and release.
5. Proven records of academic contributions (papers) or industrial contributions (open-source projects and patents).
6. Collaborative experience with universities.
7. Strong persuasive speech and interpersonal skills.
8. PhD in Computer Science/Engineering.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $300,000-$500,000 + bonus + long-term incentives benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
