Brief Description of Duties:
The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is charged with providing a robust, post-secondary experience for residents of the District of Columbia who are enrolled in secondary school. The Director of College Readiness and Community Outreach will serve under the direct supervision of the UDC Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and will act as a bridge between pre-college students in the public-school systems in the District of Columbia and Academic Affairs. The College Access and Readiness for Everyone (CARE) program provides relevant college readiness programming and related community outreach functions on behalf of the students and this unit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and direction for all programs related to college readiness, transition from pre-college to college, and CARE Dual Enrollment records maintenance and management.
  • Supports the Office of Academic Affairs and UDC Deans in expanding partnerships and programs of study with public secondary schools across the city.
  • Creates and recommends policies and programs to enhance K-12 / Community College interactions.
  • Supports the Office of Academic Affairs with community outreach functions.
  • Acts as the spokesperson for college readiness programs and represents the Office of Academic Affairs at meetings and conferences.
  • Manages the preparation of reports and compliance documents for UDC college readiness programming, including dual enrollment.
  • Serves as a primary liaison to the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) regarding dual enrollment.
  • Assists in building partnerships with high schools, GED programs, and community organizations to support a sustainable college readiness program.
  • Develops relevant and innovative pre-college and college curricula that blend academic and job-related skills.
  • Creates detailed strategies in Academic Affairs that are student-centered, competency-based, and data-driven.
  • Facilitates regular network meetings with stakeholders and community members to share best practices.
  • Leads the development of a coherent organization-wide support plan around college readiness.
  • Coordinates the CARE Dual Enrollment Program.
  • Participates in relevant meetings and conferences.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in higher education administration.
  • Previous experience as a counselor/advisor or administrator in secondary or post-secondary education.
  • Employment experience in both high school and higher education preferred.
  • Ability to use information technology effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
