Primary job functions:

While applying technical and engineering knowledge and skills, the primary functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Plan, design, budget, and implement critical infrastructure projects including water distribution, water storage, wells, and pumping.
  • Assist with the maps, GIS, and other drawings.
  • New residential development/commercial projects water plan review, edit, and approval.
  • Play key roles in all phases of project planning, design, budget preparation, monitoring, reporting, and construction management.
  • Comply with the rules and regulations of the Departments of Ecology and the Department of Health.
  • Proficient with preparing reports and/or conducting presentations for monthly Board of Directors meetings.
  • Analyze engineering data, interpret plans and specifications, and make sound decisions.
  • Periodic fieldwork including oversight construction observation and administration, monitoring equipment installation, and project reconnaissance.
  • Partner with electrical engineers, project managers, and staff for reporting, design, and construction phase services to enhance public water projects.
  • Collaborate with government agencies for permits, crossing agreements, easements, encroachments, and other necessary requirements.
  • Facilitate public meetings, public forums, and open houses to discuss project details and answer questions from the public.
  • Coordinate and update Water System Plan, Water Quality Monitoring Schedule, Sanitary Surveys and required Washington State DOH/ODW reporting.
  • Organize and conduct meetings with consulting partners, contractors, clients, and agencies.
  • Familiar with SCADA.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).

Experience:

· PE preferred

· Demonstrated ability with SCADA preferred.

· Design using AutoCAD.

· Includes occupationally significant combination of: vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

· Must possess a strong knowledge and practical application of electrical theory and transmission system operations. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety codes and regulations regarding transmission line and/or substation projects

· When hired, must live 30 minutes from Vera home office located at 601 N. Evergreen Road, Spokane Valley, WA.

Skills

· Must have developed language skills to the point of being able to: Read periodicals, journals, and manuals.

· Write conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.

· Read maps or drawings of the items to be made or repaired.

· Write speeches, manuals, etc.

· Conversant in theory, principles and methods of effective and persuasive voice and diction, phonetics, discussion and debate.

· Electronic Systems, Electronics Troubleshooting, Electronic Testing Design, Project Management, Quality Focus, Database Design, Analyzing Information, Reporting Research Results, Attention to Detail, Emphasizing Excellence, Innovation.

Physical Requirements

· The employee is frequently lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds and occasionally carrying articles of 25 lbs. such as small tools, equipment, computer components and paper.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to grip, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist torso; pull, push, or exert force; and perform repetitive hand or arm motion.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

· The beginning annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000, dependent on experience.
