Estimated Salary Range: $90,000 to $130,000 depending on experience

Location: Candidates must be able to commute regularly to one of the specified locations or be willing to relocate before starting.

About the Role:

The Geotechnical Project Manager will lead various geotechnical projects, preparing reports and proposals, conducting essential geotechnical calculations, and providing expert consultation to guide project designs. You will also act as a mentor to junior staff. This exempt salaried position reports to the Engineering Services Manager or Area Manager and includes a balance of remote and in-office work as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct engineering analyses and create technical reports.
  2. Mentor Entry Level Engineers and assist in their professional development.
  3. Direct geotechnical project activities, including engineering analyses, report writing, field assessments, and laboratory testing.
  4. Assess site conditions to inform design and construction decisions.
  5. Carry out shallow and deep foundation design, slope stability analysis, and seismic assessments.
  6. Review and provide feedback on geotechnical reports from team members.
  7. Maintain open communication with clients to ensure high-quality work and to address any concerns.
  8. Participate in project meetings, including inspections and project kick-offs.
  9. Engage with professional organizations to enhance knowledge and industry presence.
  10. Oversee project scope, timelines, and budgets for assigned projects.
  11. Provide guidance to Staff Engineers and Engineering Technicians in their field and office tasks.
  12. Meet with clients to discuss design insights prior to report submission, ensuring clarity on any necessary modifications.
  13. Ensure proper project file maintenance in accordance with company guidelines.
  14. Review billing data to finalize client invoices.
  15. Manage the proposal process, from RFP evaluation to client liaison.
  16. Incorporate best practices from the Geo-professional Business Association into daily operations.
  17. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. B.S. degree in Civil Engineering; Master's in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering is preferred.
  2. Professional Engineer registration in Idaho and/or Washington required within 90 days of hire.
  3. 5-10 years of related experience is preferred.
  4. Expertise in geotechnical report creation and development of recommendations.
  5. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with clients and design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Strong project management skills with a track record of meeting objectives.
  7. Solid knowledge in soil mechanics, geotechnical analysis, and soil testing methodologies.
  8. Extensive experience with geotechnical recommendations for foundations, site prep, and mitigation.
  9. Familiarity with geotechnical software: BoreDM, Settle3D, SLIDE, LPILE, and design tools like AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Ability to produce technical documents with minimal oversight.
  12. Acceptable driving record for insurance purposes is necessary.

Work Environment:

This position involves work in an office environment, on outdoor project sites, and may include travel as needed. Outdoor responsibilities may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow).
