Quality Control Director

Location: Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho (Spokane preferred)

Reports To: Vice President

Division: Asphalt / Aggregate / Concrete

About the Opportunity

A growing construction materials company is seeking a Quality Control Director to lead and scale the Quality Control function as it launches a major Asphalt Division. This is a critical and urgent hire, with the current QC Manager transitioning out in under two months. The role is ideal for a high-impact leader who can establish a high-performing QC department and drive operational excellence during a period of rapid growth and expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and manage a growing QC team across multiple sites in Eastern WA and Northern ID
• Develop and implement QC means and methods, including mix designs, lab protocols, staff certifications, and regulatory compliance
• Conduct comprehensive sample testing and ensure accurate, timely submission of all required reports and documentation
• Oversee efficient operation and maintenance of asphalt, concrete, and aggregate testing equipment and maintain detailed test records
• Act as on-site liaison during concrete placements to verify technical compliance
• Collaborate with the Safety Manager to ensure adherence to MSHA and OSHA standards
• Respond immediately to any safety hazards or compliance concerns
• Communicate clearly and effectively with customers and internal stakeholders to maintain satisfaction and ensure quality alignment

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 10 years of experience in asphalt, aggregates, and technical specifications
• Deep knowledge of mix design, QC lab procedures, and field operations
• Demonstrated leadership and team-building experience
• Concrete experience strongly preferred
• Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude
• Hands-on leader with a field-first, operational mindset
• No formal degree required — extensive experience and leadership abilities are prioritized
