    Full-time (Hours: Weekly Floating Schedule based on Sports Schedule)

    The Sports Medicine Director will work under the supervision of the Athletic Director and Wellness Director and will be an integral part of the athletic team at AMHS.

    The Sports Medicine Director will be responsible for providing injury prevention and physical assessments on site to athletes at AMHS. Any additional hours available during the week will be devoted to substitute teaching, assisting in the lunch room, and evening security. Summer time would include assisting with Strength and Conditioning program.


    Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
    Athletic Training

    Under the supervision of the Wellness Director & Athletic Director, this position provides injury prevention and physical assessments on site to athletes.

    • The Sports Medicine Director will work with referring physicians, physical therapists, and medical partners as set forth by the NATA Board of Certification.
    • Demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of support or athletic equipment.
    • Perform or prescribe treatment, and reconditioning.
    • Perform early evaluation, triage, CPR/First Aid, and AED services.
    • Will attend related events as deemed necessary by the Sports Performance Manager & Athletic Director.
    • Carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations from the patient's physician.
    • Provide referrals to specific physicians and other allied health professionals.
    • Work with the strength and conditioning, nutrition, wellness, physical therapy, and team physicians to ensure safety in designing and implementing fitness, nutrition, preventative, and conditioning programs customized to meet individual needs where applicable.
    • Assist with the Sports Medicine Club and the future construction of a Sports Medicine class as a part of the AMHS Health Studies Program.
    • Compile injury and treatment statistics for the programs for assigned sports in the database.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned by the President and/or Principal.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in athletic training or related field;
    • In process and eligible for becoming licensed in Washington State;
    • Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC);
    • Demonstrate practical oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills;
    • The ability to work with electronic medical record-keeping systems and other computer databases;
    • Ability to work under pressure has time management skills, and can multitask;
    • Demonstrate they are an active, collaborative team member;
    • Experience prescribing and leading rehabilitation exercises in a one-on-one team setting.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving equipment/boxes up to 50 lbs
    • Medium strength is required to position patients for examination.
    • May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Ability to visually monitor athletes.

    Salary: Range: $55,000 - 65,000 per year. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
