Summary

The Director of Safety & Risk Management provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for safety, risk management, security, and loss prevention programs. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety regulations, mitigating risks, fostering a proactive safety culture, collaborating across departments to reduce incidents, and protecting organizational assets. Travel is required using company or personal vehicle, with valid driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of auto insurance required. Background, credit, and driver record checks must be successfully passed.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5-7 years of experience in safety, risk management, loss prevention, or compliance, preferably in retail, nonprofit, or warehouse settings
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, HIPAA, Workers' Compensation laws, and safety & risk compliance
  • Experience managing safety audits, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CRM, ARM) preferred

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Develop and oversee risk management strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Ensure OSHA, state, and federal safety compliance
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate hazards to prevent injuries
  • Oversee incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Ensure insurance compliance, loss prevention, and security measures
  • Act as liaison with regulatory agencies and insurance providers

Safety & Security Programs

  • Develop and monitor safety policies and initiatives
  • Lead safety training and awareness programs
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and security protocols
  • Oversee security operations including access control, CCTV, emergency planning, and inspections

Loss Prevention & Incident Response

  • Enforce policies to prevent asset loss and fraud
  • Investigate safety violations, property damage, and security incidents
  • Ensure timely reporting and documentation

Workers' Compensation & Claims Management

  • Oversee Workers' Compensation program and claims
  • Monitor claims, collaborate with insurers, and develop cost-reduction strategies
  • Implement early return-to-work programs

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor safety, security, and risk teams
  • Collaborate with HR, Retail, Facilities, and other departments
  • Report safety metrics, trends, and recommendations to leadership
