Join Impinj as a Sr. Staff Electrical Design Engineer, specializing in silicon characterization. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to perform and coordinate lab-based probe station device characterization projects, adhering to schedules. Impinj plans to deliver around 100 billion parts annually, requiring daily experience in a semiconductor R&D lab within a fast-paced, motivated design team. Creative problem-solving and technical skills are highly valued.

What you will do:

  1. Conduct device characterization testing using a semiconductor parameter analyzer, scripting to control embedded switch matrix and probe station operations via a GUI.
  2. Streamline characterization and debugging processes, including data collection and reporting, through automation, scripting, and innovative methodologies.
  3. Collaborate with Process, Analog, and Digital IC design teams to define and develop process characterization wafer testing flows to meet project milestones.
  4. Apply troubleshooting skills to resolve device characterization debug issues.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on semiconductor lab experience with R&D test equipment, especially semiconductor parameter analyzers like the Agilent B1500 or Tektronix SCS4200.
  • Understanding of IC design, layout, and their relationship with DRC and LVS constraints.
  • Operational knowledge of Bipolar and MOS devices, including device physics.
  • Experience in test scripting automation using Python, Perl, C++, or similar.
  • Ability to develop procedures and publish data reports.
  • Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, physics, silicon engineering, or integrated circuits, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Knowledge of wafer fab flow and processing.
  • Experience with Tektronix KCON or Agilent EasyExpert Device Char software.
  • Experience with MicroManipulator or FormFactor/CascadeTech semi-automated probers.
  • Competence in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of RF principles.

Compensation and Benefits:

The benefits listed may vary based on employment nature and location. The typical base pay range in the US is $141,000–$218,000, depending on experience and role complexity. Offers are made within this range, considering market data and the role's requirements. Some roles are eligible for additional rewards like bonuses and stock, based on performance.
