This individual is responsible for courteous, efficient customer care, operating independently, under limited supervision. Work situations are varied and require initiative, analysis, interpretation of information from a variety of sources, a service-oriented individual, and the use of discretion and good judgment in decision-making. Internal contacts are primarily within the work group but may also include patient care staff. External contacts include patients, physicians, and outside health care facilities and agencies who work with the patient and patient's family.The role of Safety Coordinator, in addition to HBO technician duties, is responsible for safe and effective operation and maintenance of hyperbaric chambers and related systems and ancillary components. He/she works closely with facility management and department medical personnel to ensure highest quality of safety for patients, staff, and visitors. He/she makes recommendations for safety policies and incorporates new safety procedures as appropriate. The Safety Coordinator assists in setting agenda and education for hyperbaric patient panels; provides leadership and safety training to other hyperbaric facility personnel; and maintains all facility safety-related standards as required by various licensing and regulatory agencies and supports clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation.RequirementsAdditional education for safety coordinator within 1 year of hire consists of course in NFPA 99 or safety director training course completionOR certified and/or licensed clinician (e.g. EMT, Respiratory Care Practitioner, LPN, RN, etc.)Certification as a hyperbaric technologist (CHT); or certified within 1-year of hireCurrent CPROur ValuesAs a MultiCare employee, we'll rely on you to reflect our core values of Respect, Integrity, Stewardship, Excellence, Collaboration, Kindness and Joy.
