Thermo Systems is a global, full-service control-systems integrator delivering world-class automation to District Energy, Life Sciences, and—most relevant to this role—Mission Critical data-center markets. Our teams design and deploy the SCADA and BMS platforms that keep hyperscale facilities online 24 × 7. “The Thermo Way” unites us: we foster connection and camaraderie, adapt quickly, and execute with integrity so that every employee, every customer, and the company itself succeeds.

Job Summary:

As a Lead CSE you own the technical delivery of full-life-cycle control-system packages on one of our Mission Critical Projects—from network architecture and I/O design through onsite commissioning and turnover. You will

  • Guide project teams and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Drive hardware/software design & deployment (Aveva, Ignition, PLC/PAC, HMIs) and ensure QMS compliance.
  • Represent Thermo in front of the GC, trade partners, and owner.
  • Influence standards, templates, and best practices across multiple sites.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Controls Engineering—or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 2–4 years total experience with 1–3 years as a Control System Engineer (or equivalent).
  • Proven delivery of integrated PLC/SCADA solutions

Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Lead SAT, I/O check-outs, and point-to-point verifications for PLC, SCADA, and networked OT systems.
  • Develop and review I/O lists, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, network topologies..
  • Configure and troubleshoot Aveva System Platform, Historian, OMI dashboards, and Ignition gateways.
  • Read and interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams, wiring diagrams, and panel schedules; spot discrepancies early.
  • Display strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills and demonstrate self-sufficiency in the field.
  • Provide instrumentation specifications and perform intermediate-to-advanced control-system design with minimal oversight.
  • Review and redline peers' design packages for technical accuracy, grammar, formatting, and Thermo QMS compliance.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation during installation, start-up, and commissioning; direct field teams and subcontractors.
  • Maintain working knowledge of IT/OT network architecture, cybersecurity standards, and server / VM infrastructure.

Customer Service:

  • Communicate with clients in an effective, positive, proactive manner; model professional conduct at all times.
  • Follow site-specific standards and procedures while advocating Thermo best practices.
  • Be patient, attentive, and responsive—own the problem until it's closed and always honor commitments.
  • Understand customer needs, anticipate future pain points, and provide solutions that protect schedule and budget.
  • Complete all assigned tasks accurately, on schedule, and under budget; ask for help early if risk to those targets arises.

Project Execution:

  • Lead discrete work-streams or manage small- to mid-sized projects end-to-end, hitting scope, schedule, and budget targets.
  • Understand the contractual scope; when issues fall outside it, promptly identify, document, and elevate for change-order action.
  • Provide clear, accurate status updates and forecasts to PMs and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrate awareness of project contracts, specifications, and cost drivers—and coach CSEs on the same.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Confident leadership and coaching of cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic, systems-level problem solving; can “zoom out” to see program-wide impacts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent time-management, self-accountability, and ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to a positive, collaborative team culture—lead by example.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 10 % overnight travel to visit other project sites (current hot spots include UT, AL, WI).
  • Relocation stipend available
