Job Duties / Responsibilities. The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for managing all aspects of our nursing staff to ensure our patients in residence receive quality care that protects their rights, dignity and health. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:Collaborating with medical, mental health and correctional staff to enhance quality patient care while maintaining a safe and secure work environment. Leading Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities. Managing nursing operations, resources, budgets, and staffing schedules, hiring and training of new staff, and conducting performance evaluations. Ensuring staff adhere to current and new policies and procedures and company Code of Conduct. Effectively communicate with healthcare staff and correctional staff to coordinate patient care with providers outside of the facility.
