Data Architect – DoD Cybersecurity & Analytics Platform

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to join our mission-driven team supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) analytics platform at the forefront of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), business intelligence (BI), and data visualization. This is a strategic role focused on designing, building, and optimizing enterprise-level databases and data infrastructures that power cutting-edge defense analytics.

As a Data Architect, you will ensure the performance, security, scalability, and integrity of complex data systems. Your work will directly support national security objectives by enabling robust data-driven decision-making and the integration of advanced technologies like AI/ML into real-time cybersecurity environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise database and data warehouse strategies for large-scale, high-security environments.
• Establish and enforce best practices for database performance, security, availability, and disaster recovery.
• Model, develop, and manage relational and distributed database systems to support analytics and operational use cases.
• Optimize data workflows and infrastructure to support large-scale ingestion, transformation (ETL), and analytics workloads.
• Integrate legacy systems and modern applications within unified data architectures.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to design data schemas that enhance algorithmic performance and predictive analytics.
• Enable data validation, cleansing, and automation for seamless pipeline operation and reporting.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in database architecture and engineering.
• Deep expertise in SQL-based databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or equivalent.
• Proven ability to design and manage enterprise-scale databases and data warehouses.
• Strong knowledge of data security principles, especially in DoD-compliant environments.
• Proficiency with ETL development, automation, and data pipeline orchestration.
• Experience in schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with big data frameworks: Hadoop, Databricks, or Snowflake.
• Familiarity with AI/ML data structures and training data pipelines.
• Cloud database experience with AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL.
• Background in supporting cybersecurity data platforms or mission-critical DoD systems.
