SUMMARY STATEMENT & PURPOSE:

The clinical appointment scheduler is responsible for providing an exceptional customer service experience when answering incoming telephone calls and either scheduling an appointment, routing the call, or taking a message for physicians, management, or staff. The accurate scheduling of appointments is completed in accordance with protocols and insurance guidelines. This position ensures the patient's experience is positive and all information provided by and given to the patient during the call is accurate. This position requires the ability to work any shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
  1. Adheres to all company policies and procedures as written in the employee handbook.
  2. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  3. Answers and appropriately routes incoming calls in scheduling and operator queues in a timely, professional and courteous manner using proper telephone etiquette. Conducts overhead paging for urgent requests.
  4. Accurately schedules patients utilizing appropriate protocols and scripting as directed by the scheduling workflow.
  5. Meets benchmarks for scheduling metrics to meet volume requirements.
  6. Communicates professionally with internal and external parties utilizing appropriate pathways such as email, EHR tasking, faxing, telephone calls and in-person, as needed.
  7. Completes assigned department tasks including, but not limited to, interpreter requests, return to clinic orders, patient recall lists, quality assurance logs and repatriation tools.
  8. Participates in staff meetings and other skills or business-related education as required.
  9. Contributes to a positive team environment.


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to learn other software programs as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience in scheduling, registration, or medical office setting.


Salary Description

$17.50 - $26.26
