Job Description: VDC Manager (Virtual Design and Construction)

Lydig Construction is seeking a skilled, dynamic, and innovative VDC Manager (Virtual Design and Construction) to lead our Eastern Region Group Virtual Design & Construction across multiple projects. In this leadership role, you will collaborate with internal teams and industry partners to deliver high-impact digital construction solutions that enhance project delivery, coordination, and client value. You will also work with Lydig's operations and business development departments, as well as industry partners in the A/E/C sector, to integrate virtual design and construction into our projects.

The ideal candidate has a passion for customer service, advanced knowledge of virtual construction, and a strong desire to contribute to diverse project teams. This role is primarily based in our Spokane office and involves occasional travel. Responsibilities

  1. Drive VDC strategy and adoption across operations, preconstruction, and field teams
  2. Create and execute BIM Execution Plans aligned with project milestones
  3. Lead BIM coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  4. Promote and implement new VDC technologies and workflows to improve efficiency and quality

Project Coordination & Delivery

  1. Lead BIM Coordination Meetings among project stakeholders
  2. Perform Model & Constructability Reviews
  3. Manage QA/QC Building Systems Coordination
  4. Coordinate with Project Management teams
  5. Oversee constructability reviews and clash detection during design and construction phases
  6. Develop and manage models for field layout, project sequencing (4D BIM), self-perform work, and logistics planning
  7. Utilize reality capture tools (laser scanning, drones) to document project conditions and support QA/QC
  8. Deliver model-based as-builts for project turnover

Training & Support

  1. Support marketing and business development with RFP responses, visuals, content, and presentations
  2. Assist estimating and preconstruction through model-based quantity takeoffs and logistics planning
  3. Provide VDC training and mentorship for project teams and field staff
  4. Implement and train on Model-Based viewing platforms for project teams
  5. Maintain model libraries and company VDC standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of industry experience in commercial building construction
  • At least 4 years of experience with VDC technologies such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Twinmotion, etc.
  • Experience with Autodesk Point Layout and similar field layout platforms preferred
  • Additional 5 years of industry experience or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture required
  • Ability to work flexible hours, prioritize demands, and demonstrate strong internal service, integrity, and continuous learning
  • Experience with estimating, MEP systems, and reality capture technologies preferred

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass pre-employment checks including drug screening, criminal background, and credit checks
  • Compliance with Lydig's drug-free workplace policy; all employees are considered in safety-sensitive positions and will be tested for controlled substances

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
