Overview:

The Senior Project Manager plays a critical role in leading large-scale multi-craft, joint venture, or EPC projects valued at over $200 million. This position is vital for ensuring project Safety, Quality, and effective Project Controls necessary for successful execution. The Senior Project Manager is tasked with supervising engineering teams, technology providers, and joint venture partners, ensuring all project aspects such as safety, quality, labor, materials, scope, client relations, and overall execution are meticulously managed.

To excel in this role, candidates must have a comprehensive understanding of best practices and industry standards across various disciplines. This role will involve consistent interactions with clients, engineering teams, subcontractors, vendors, and essential internal stakeholders, all while providing strategic updates on project status.

Location & Travel:

This is a project-based, traveling position requiring up to 90% travel. Candidates should be prepared for relocations to project sites across the U.S. Average project durations range from 8 to 18 months, with financial support for living expenses through designated per diem, a competitive salary, potential mileage reimbursement, and provisions for occasional long weekends at home. A company vehicle or vehicle allowance will also be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the on-site management team, including Construction Managers, Project Engineers, Quality Managers, and Safety Managers.
  • Maintain professional representation in all client interactions.
  • Facilitate communication with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors regarding project-related issues.
  • Champion the Corporate Safety Plan and create a site-specific safety plan.
  • Monitor progress, identify productivity issues, and propose timely solutions.
  • Oversee reviews of work plans and work packages.
  • Support the implementation of the site quality plan and ensure all inspections are timely and documented.
  • Provide guidance to Superintendents on efficiency and labor rate management.
  • Review Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) and conduct training sessions.
  • Lead job site safety reviews and training meetings.
  • Schedule material deliveries and monitor procurement status closely.
  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule job site workgroups.
  • Review material takeoffs and perform basic engineering calculations as needed.
  • Supervise subcontractor operations and provide on-site support.
  • Ensure accurate project recordkeeping, including daily reports and correspondences.
  • Develop comprehensive project controls, including labor tracking and risk assessments.
  • Oversee budgeting and cost forecasting to ensure project financial health.
  • Act as the primary company representative in customer interactions.
  • Assist in the hiring of project staff and oversee field operations.
  • Mentor and manage direct reports effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 11 years of experience in heavy industrial construction.
  • Expertise in sectors such as fossil power generation, mining, and heavy manufacturing is required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge of safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Active participation in safety meetings and effective communication on-site.
  • Capable of reading and analyzing engineering documents and contracts.
  • Innovative problem-solving abilities and commitment to project efficiency.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate and support team success.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and adapt to new project locations as required.

Work Environment:

  • Prepare to work up to 12-hour shifts in varying outdoor conditions.
  • Maintain physical stamina and strength when performing demanding tasks.
  • Work in environments with challenges such as extreme temperatures and loud noise.
  • Capable of adhering to safety protocols and operating at heights where necessary.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary range of $180,000 - $220,000 with ongoing performance reviews.
