Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Description:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of RiverBanks Senior Management Team, responsible for the Banks strategic financial planning, fiscal operating results, financial risk management, capital management, and investment activities. The CFO oversees the Banks system of accounting and financial reporting, ensuring the safeguarding of assets, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and the integrity of internal controls. This role provides counsel to senior management on profitability, fiscal discipline, and operational efficiency, while maintaining strong communication with the Board of Directors, external auditors, and regulators.

The CFO serves as Chair of ALCO (Asset / Liability Committee), manages loan and deposit pricing strategies, leads the budget and forecasting process, oversees investment activities, and directs the Banks contingency planning and incident response programs. The CFO will also leverage technology and data analytics to drive innovation across the Bank's financial and operational functions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the development of the Banks annual budget and financial forecasts in alignment with the strategic business plan.
  • Monitor financial performance and peer comparisons, providing analysis and insights to executive leadership and the Board.
  • Model and evaluate current and potential business strategies, recommending financial approaches to optimize profitability.
  • Capital planning, management, and capital raising initiatives.

Financial Risk Management

  • Oversight of liquidity risk, interest rate risk, capital risk, earnings volatility, and related financial risks.
  • Develop and manage investment portfolios, borrowing strategies, and contingency funding plans.
  • Maintain strong relationships with investment dealers and bankers.
  • Implement and manage an internal control framework to ensure operational integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage audit and exam preparation activities, coordinate vendor management, and monitor expense control.
  • Guide deposit product and loan product pricing and profitability strategies.
  • Participate in the Banks Loan Committee as an alternate.

Financial Reporting and Communication

  • Prepare and present monthly Board finance and ALCO reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee external regulatory reporting and shareholder communications, including earnings releases and SEC filings as necessary.
  • Maintain accuracy and reliability of accounting records.
  • Assist in credit-related reporting as needed.

Technology and Innovation

  • Leverage financial technologies, data analytics, and automation to enhance the Banks financial operations.
  • Analyze and develop non-traditional banking models, including partnerships with fintech firms.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.

Leadership and People Development

  • Mentor, develop, and manage finance team members, ensuring a high level of engagement and performance.
  • Constructively contribute to all areas of the Banks leadership and operations.

  • Provide leadership and supervision within the finance and accounting departments, ensuring timely and accurate payroll, benefits administration, accounts payable / receivable, and general ledger functions.
  • Ensure audit compliance and operational quality control across financial functions.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and finance experience, including at least 2 years in a financial institution.
  • CPA, CFA, or similar professional designation preferred.
  • Experience with capital raising, capital markets, and investment management preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated analytical / problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly to employees, regulators, board members, and shareholders.
  • High level of technical proficiency with financial systems, digital banking technologies, and financial modeling tools.
  • Innovative, collaborative, dynamic, and flexible leadership approach.
