Position Summary

Ignitium is searching for a Director of Engineering to lead and scale our software and backend engineering team. This new role reports to the VP of Product Operations and partners closely with our Data Engineering team, forming a strong technical leadership pillar within the organization.

You'll manage and help grow a team of engineers, implement agile development practices, and play a direct role in delivering features and solutions tied to the product roadmap. You will also serve as a technical executor and safety net, able to personally step in and support any team member if needed to ensure velocity and quality.

This is a strategic leadership role for someone who thrives on building systems, teams, and high-value products from the ground up.

As Director of Engineering, you will:

• Work from a window office on the 17th floor with expansive views of downtown Spokane.
• Access trillions of B2B intent signals mapped to a proprietary identity graph of 320 million U.S. contacts and across 11 million businesses
• Collaborate with a forward-thinking product team to deliver AI-enhanced features
• Help shape and build the next-generation ABX platform, powered by OpenAI, Google Cloud, BigQuery, Firebase, and a suite of advanced automation platforms
• Make a direct impact on product, team culture, and business outcomes while enjoying autonomy and the support of an amazing team.

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential responsibilities listed below.

• Build, mentor, and lead a team of software/backend engineers, establishing clear goals, feedback loops, and professional development plans
• Design and evolve the team structure to improve delivery capacity, velocity, and alignment with product roadmap priorities
• Collaborate with Product Management to translate strategic goals into actionable engineering plans with measurable outcomes
• Implement agile development methodologies tailored to Ignitium's fast-paced, flexible environment
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable backend systems, internal tooling, and APIs that support stability and growth
• Partner with the Director of Data Engineering on shared architectural decisions, data pipelines, and technical integrations
• Act as a technical safety net, stepping in to write or review code, debug critical issues, or unblock the team when necessary
• Recommend and manage the adoption of modern tech stacks, tools, and processes that support rapid iteration and delivery
• Own project delivery schedules, resource allocation, and scope management to ensure successful execution and accountability
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and performance-driven team culture grounded in code quality, continuous improvement, and engineering best practices
• Lead hiring and onboarding efforts to scale a high-impact team aligned with Ignitium's mission and technical standards

Secondary functions of this position include:

• Provide technical direction in collaboration with the Data Engineering team on shared projects.
• Facilitate engineering input in architectural discussions and cross-team initiatives.
• Drive impactful decisions regarding system reliability, security, and automation.
• Manage relationships with vendors and external partners involved in technical integrations, departmental KPIs, and work with leadership to align team success metrics with company strategy.

Knowledge and Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job:

• Deep understanding of software engineering best practices and architecture.
• Experience building and managing early-career engineering teams and creating growth pathways.
• Skilled in agile, scrum, or other iterative development methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Adept in managing competing priorities and deadlines across multiple initiatives.
• Proven success in a high-growth or fast-changing technology environment.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's or MBA a plus.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing direct reports.
• Experience in project delivery, engineering management, and agile transformation.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD tooling.

Preferred Certificates and/or licenses

• Agile or Scrum certification
• Technical certifications in Python, Java, or cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, etc.)
