Position Summary:

An exceptional leadership opportunity is available for an experienced and visionary Director of Surgical Services at a nationally recognized Critical Access Hospital. Ranked among the Top 100 in the nation, our facility is committed to delivering surgical excellence with a personal, rural touch. This confidential search seeks a dynamic, strategic leader to oversee all aspects of perioperative care in a high-quality, patient-centered environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the surgical services department, including OR, pre-op, PACU, sterile processing, and endoscopy.
  • Ensure clinical excellence, patient safety, and compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission).
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture that promotes staff engagement, continuous learning, and professional development.
  • Develop and manage budgets, capital equipment planning, staffing models, and service line growth initiatives.
  • Partner with medical staff, nursing leadership, and hospital administration to expand surgical offerings and enhance patient access.
  • Implement and monitor key performance metrics including patient outcomes, throughput, efficiency, and satisfaction.
  • Champion process improvement, evidence-based practices, and innovation in rural surgical care delivery.
