This is an opportunity to join a leading mechanical contracting firm with a strong presence across the eastern United States. They have a diversified portfolio of commercial and government projects, including data centers, hospitals, sports stadiums, convention centers, hotels, and research laboratories.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager and project team in successfully delivering commercial construction projects on time, within budget, and according to scope. This role also ensures a safe working environment and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in driving project workflow from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with Safety and field teams to maintain a safe jobsite.
  • Review contracts and bid documents to understand project scope.
  • Manage project documentation including insurance certificates, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
  • Ensure accurate distribution and control of project drawings and documents.
  • Support billing and schedule of values preparation and tracking.
  • Assist in project scheduling and manpower coordination.
  • Manage purchase order requests for major equipment and subcontractors, monitoring delivery schedules.
  • Compile operational and maintenance documentation for project closeout.
  • Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders to review progress and resolve issues.
  • Support project accounting with monthly billings and collections follow-up.
  • Contribute to safety initiatives, including toolbox talks and walkthroughs.
  • Facilitate change order documentation and pricing coordination with the team.
  • Assist with commissioning and project closeout activities.
  • Escalate critical project issues with proposed solutions to Project Manager.
  • Comply with site onboarding and company safety policies.
  • Travel to project sites as required.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in mechanical, plumbing, and/or industrial HVAC fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction contract language.
  • Familiarity with local market conditions is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and construction/project management software preferred.
