Position Overview
Amber Integrated is seeking a Director of Advocacy to lead and manage advocacy campaigns for a diverse portfolio of clients. This is a client-facing role that requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and the ability to execute multi-faceted advocacy initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is adaptable to changing client needs, and can bring innovative and creative approaches to advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement advocacy campaigns at the state and national levels, with a primary focus on Oklahoma.
- Coordinate and oversee the work of lobbyists, PR firms, and other external vendors to ensure seamless execution of campaign goals.
- Manage budgets for advocacy efforts, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to adjust strategies as needed.
Communications & Media Relations
- Develop compelling messaging and oversee the creation of marketing materials for print, radio, broadcast, and digital advertising.
- Write and distribute press releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, and other public-facing materials to support advocacy efforts.
- Liaise with media, field media requests, and prepare clients for interviews and public appearances.
- Provide media training and talking points for clients and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement & Client Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their advocacy goals are met with high-quality strategic execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with elected officials, policymakers, community leaders, and key stakeholders.
- Monitor legislative and policy developments to identify opportunities and risks for clients.
- Compile and present regular reports on campaign performance, media engagement, and policy developments.
- Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to develop engaging campaign content.
- Continuously analyze and refine advocacy strategies to improve outcomes.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging best practices in advocacy and public affairs.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in advocacy, public affairs, political campaigns, lobbying, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes at the state and federal levels.
- Exceptional writing skills for both public-facing and internal communications.
- Experience managing vendors, budgets, and multi-channel advocacy campaigns.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
- A creative, problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to evolving client needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in client relations, stakeholder engagement, and media liaison.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with public affairs firms, advocacy organizations, or political campaigns.
- Familiarity with digital advocacy tools, media analytics, and grassroots mobilization strategies.
