Position Summary

Responsible for performing administrative and data entry duties necessary to correctly create entries to the general ledger, assist with accounts payable and payroll functions, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn and ensure policies and procedures are followed per the Internal Control standards.
  • Adhere to guest service standards by providing excellent guest service.
  • Compile and maintain vouchers, purchase orders, and receivers for all payables.
  • Assist the Accounts Payable Department in investigating questionable invoices and follow up with vendors and departments, including reconciling documents.
  • Help prepare invoices for payment, process incoming mail, prioritize invoices, and review vendor contracts for accuracy and proper coding.
  • Support the Payroll Department by compiling and posting data related to hours worked, benefits, gratuities, and direct deposits.
  • Assist in resolving payroll disputes and errors, and process enrollment forms timely.
  • Support the Controller and Staff Accountant in the month-end closing process.
  • Proactively identify problems, solutions, and concerns, and follow up with management.
  • Ensure departmental records and reports are accurate and thorough.
  • Assist in the audit process and verify billing data accuracy.
  • Calculate credit terms, discounts, shipment charges, and rates for goods and services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; college accounting courses preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in accounts payable or accounting; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong guest service skills and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good math skills and ability to perform clerical duties.
Physical Demands

Must meet physical requirements such as talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and manual dexterity. Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus.

Work Environment

Moderate noise level typical of an office setting. Possible exposure to secondhand smoke in casino environment.

Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities
  • Obtain and maintain a License B with Spokane Tribal Gaming.
  • Attend required training sessions.
  • Perform duties in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Ensure minors do not gamble, loiter, drink, or purchase tobacco in gambling areas.
  • Understand and follow relevant ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of Title 31 regulations related to accounting.
  • Report illegal activities appropriately.
