Description:

Excelsior Family Medicine is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Patient Care and Scheduling Assistant to join our healthcare team.

The ideal candidate will bring effective administrative skills, whose daily presence at the office ensures key tasks are completed with efficiency and patients are welcomed and attended to.
You will enjoy working with people and organizing competing priorities. You understand the significance of giving the first impression of the medical office and that you represent the professionalism of your colleagues. You are trustworthy in managing sensitive information and are well-versed in HIPAA and PHI regulations.

Basic Daily Responsibilities:

  • Answering phones and assisting patients.
  • Work queue management.
  • Opening and sorting mail.
  • Registering patients in the EHR.
  • Checking patients out of appointments.
  • Scanning and indexing.
  • Monitors emergency notifications and directs them to appropriate staff.
  • Assisting providers with follow-up phone calls and letters.
  • Managing internal referrals.
  • Scheduling patient appointments
  • Collecting co-payments and maintaining a cash drawer
Supervisory Duties:
This position has no direct supervisory duties.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum high school education or equivalent. An associate's degree in healthcare or a business-related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively, with a wide range of constituents.
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Experience in healthcare operations, insurance, and/or scheduling.
