Point of Care CoordinatorPosition Summary:The Point of Care Coordinator (POCC) works under the direction of the Point of Care Supervisor to facilitate Point of Care (POC) testing at Kootenai Health (KH), including: monitoring policies and procedures for all POC tests; ensuring that POC testing meets all regulatory standards; providing assistance and oversight to all testing sites including instrument trouble shooting; and maintaining quality processes and compliance. Responsibilities:Studies validation and correlation studies on all POC testing devices according to established protocolsKeeps up to date and informing personnel of any manufacturer changes in procedureWorks with Education to provide training and annual competency checks for all employees performing POC testingA limited degree of creativity and latitude is requiredReports to the Point of Care SupervisorPerforms other related duties as assignedFamiliar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsRegular and predictable attendance is an essential job functionCompetent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or Biology is requiredSuccessful completion of MLS (ASCP) examination. Other comparable certification credentials may be acceptable to the laboratory administrative director and /or chief pathologistAt least two years' experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist working in a hospital laboratory required Working Conditions:Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position Typical equipment used in a clinical jobMust be able to lift and move up to 25 lbsExposure to hazardous chemicals, acids, cleaning solution, disinfectants, soaps, etc.Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.Exposure to electrical/ mechanical harm, i.e faulty equipmentContinue your career with Kootenai Health!At Kootenai Health, you can continue learning, growing, and advancing.
