Position Summary:
As a Business Lender at SNAP Financial Access, you will work directly with underserved entrepreneurs and small business owners to help them access the capital and support they need to grow. You will respond to loan inquiries, assess borrower eligibility, underwrite applications, and guide clients through the lending process. You will also help grow the loan pipeline by building strong relationships with clients and referral partners. Your work will strengthen the economic fabric of our region by expanding opportunity and unlocking potential in the communities we serve.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond to loan inquiries, assess borrower eligibility and readiness, and ensure alignment of loan requests with SNAP Financial Access' mission and strategic goals.Underwrite and process small business loan applications in accordance with SNAP Financial Access (SFA) guidelines. Conduct detailed risk analyses of borrowers' financial capacity.Present loan requests to the internal Loan Review Board and external Microenterprise Loan Committee.Negotiate loan terms, prepare loan packages, and coordinate closings with loan processors. Ensure timely collection of post-closing documentation.Provide coaching on business establishment, operations, and growth strategies. Refer clients to technical assistance providers for specialized support.Use digital tools to prepare loan packages, assess cash flow, evaluate collateral, and confirm required licenses and permits.Assist the Senior Manager with collecting, entering, and organizing data to support accurate and timely reporting to funders.Support loan pipeline growth through client outreach and referral partner engagement in alignment with lending goals.Facilitate a close working relationship with all colleagues to achieve the goals of SFA, including loan capital deployment goalsDeliver excellent customer service, contributing to growing the customer service culture within the agency.Within the context of stated principal job duties, serve as an ambassador of SFA's mission and values.Complete assigned projects and adapt to evolving responsibilities as needed.Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Required : Associate degree in finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience -AND- At least two years of experience in commercial lending, financial analysis, or small business support. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Preferred : Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in community development finance, nonprofit lending, or working with underserved entrepreneurs. Familiarity with business establishment and maintenance. Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce.

- Ability to create and interpret financial spreads, including income statements, balance sheets, and key financial ratios from limited or informal documentation.

- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate records.
- Comfort with digital tools used for financial analysis, documentation, and reporting.
Training and Certifications
- Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, insurance, and personal vehicle for agency business (mileage reimbursed)
Work Environment/Physical Activities:
Work is generally sedentary, performed in an office environment. Some local travel is required. Domestic travel, typically by air, may be required for meetings and seminars.
