Natural Gas Operations Leadership

Responsible for the strategic leadership of Natural Gas Operations, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and safety. Builds strong relationships with employees, customers, leaders, and regulatory agencies. Oversees all aspects of gas operations including engineering, construction, maintenance, measurement, program management, and compliance. Fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Plans and directs the overall operation of the Natural Gas business unit towards the realization of annually planned and strategic goals. Collaborates on proactive strategies for gas opportunities throughout Avista's service territory. Leads Avista's gas engineering, operations, capital delivery programs, and compliance functions. Ensures that Avista operates within the state and federal gas regulatory frameworks and that the company meets published requirements. Provides coordination and guidance for the Capital and the O&M budget creation and monitoring for the Natural Gas business unit. Engages in cross-functional and collaborative committees, programs, and initiatives such as Labor Management and Joint Safety. Utilizes the Pipeline Safety Management System principles to ensure the safety of our pipeline system for communities and employees. Manages personnel including hiring, performance management, coaching, employee engagement, continuous education, training, and development. Establishes and maintains close working relationships with other functional directors to maintain alignment of the strategic direction of the overall company. Creates and implements systems and processes that monitor work to ensure that continuous quality service is delivered to all internal and external customers. Fosters a positive and supportive work culture; promotes inclusion and belonging in the workplace; and contributes to an environment of mutual respect.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university in engineering, business administration, operations management, or related degree. Seven or more years of progressively responsible related business experience and three or more years of demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others to achieve objectives are required. Experience in a union environment is preferred. Effective and flexible written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish goals and objectives, ability to develop and manage relationships at all levels of the organization, demonstrated ability to lead and support change management initiatives, ability to influence others, negotiate to a successful resolution, and engage in effective problem solving are also required. Critical thinking skills, ability to deal with ambiguity, resolve complex problems, and effectively manage projects are essential. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. May be required to travel to and from various offices and/or work sites. May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis. May be required to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Hiring Range: $161,720.00 to $215,595.

The successful candidate will be required to work at an Avista facility at least three days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with additional day(s) determined by the leader. This position requires an in-person presence to support team and on-site responsibilities.

In compliance with state laws, we provide the full salary range for each position, along with the typical hiring range based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
