About the Role:

The Departmental Support Specialist (DSS) provides cross-functional support to multiple departments, including Corporate Services, Nuclear, and Background Investigations. This position is designed for someone who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn multiple areas of the business. The DSS will help ensure accurate, timely, and compliant results while supporting clients, internal teams, and company projects. This role is full-time, based in our Spokane Valley office, with occasional travel for work-related needs.

While this role supports multiple departments, it begins with a focus on Corporate Services. As proficiency develops, training and responsibilities will gradually expand to include Nuclear and Background Investigations. This structure ensures you'll have the time, support, and resources to build confidence in each area before taking on more.

Working Schedule

This is a full-time position. The role is primarily in-office at our Spokane Valley location, with occasional travel for work-related needs. While the standard schedule follows regular business hours, some flexibility may be required to meet business or client needs.

Pay

  • $20.00 - $20.50 per hour
  • Pay and title may be reviewed after 90 days of continuous employment, at the company's discretion, based on performance and prior experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
General
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of databases and internal processes.
  • Uphold the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service.
  • Adapt quickly to workload shifts, stepping in where needed.
  • Be comfortable appearing on camera (Zoom/virtual meetings) and in person for work-related needs.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and colleagues across email, phone, video, or in person.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and client requirements
  • Other duties as assigned.
Corporate Services Department
  • Engage in forward-facing client interactions, inquiries, solution-finding, and upsell opportunities.
  • Assist with onboarding new clients and supporting existing clients.
  • Support marketing initiatives, conference preparation, and client-facing events.
  • Assist with ongoing project management and cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Provide basic internal systems training and knowledge support for teams.
Nuclear Operations Department
  • Assist with access authorization, verifications, and support as needed.
  • Conduct tasks in alignment with NEI 03-01, NRC 10 CFR 73.56, and other regulations.
Background Investigations Department
  • Assist with verifications, reference checks, criminal searches, and data validation as needed.
  • Conduct tasks in alignment with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and other regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Preferred experience in areas such as: administrative, compliance, or client service roles preferred (background screening experience a plus).
  • Knowledgeable computer skills including but not limited to: web navigation, basic computer file management, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to quickly learn new software
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, or collaboratively within a team.
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with extended periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Travel is required for business needs and can involve extended periods of transit.
  • Some assignments involve extended periods of standing and walking (up to a full workday) and light lifting (up to 20 lbs.).
  • Certain assignments require completion of client or regulatory site-access requirements (such as identity verification or travel documentation).
