Data Engineer

My client is looking for a highly skilled individual to play a key role in evolving and strengthening their modern data framework. Youll be reporting into a senior technical leader and will serve as an expert in architecting data systems that are both adaptable and efficient at scale.

In this role, youll get hands-on with everything from query language scripting and programmatic data processing to working across major cloud ecosystems. Youll be instrumental in moving information seamlessly through the system building smart, reusable components to make that happen. Youll also get to guide junior contributors and collaborate closely with folks from BI, software, and advanced analytics teams.

Key Focus Areas:

• Information Flow Architecture Develop and refine automated flows for data movement and transformation using common scripting languages and cloud-native orchestration tools
• Data Structuring & Representation Craft layered designs that map accurately to business processes and analytics needs
• Platform Optimization Shape strategy for how information is stored, retrieved, and consumed in a distributed cloud environment
• Team Engagement Participate in agile ceremonies, deliver in sprints, and contribute to cross-functional efforts
• Stakeholder Collaboration Translate technical patterns into value-add solutions for internal partners across analytics and application domains
• Coaching & Support Serve as a technical sounding board and mentor for less experienced team members
• Uptime & Quality Enforce best practices around system reliability, performance, and governance

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participate in support rotation to manage escalations
• Maintain and modernize older systems as part of broader platform evolution

Background We're Looking For:

• At least 7 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining systems that move and manage data at scale
• Proven expertise in SQL-like query languages, scripting with dynamic languages (think Python or similar), and fluency in cloud-first development approaches
• Past experience working with structured and semi-structured information and cloud-scale processing engines
• Comfort working in collaborative environments that apply iterative delivery models (Agile, Scrum, etc.)
• Experience transforming data into insights through modeling and visualization workflows
• Strong communicator capable of breaking down complex topics for both technical and business stakeholders

Preferred Extras:

• Advanced degree in a STEM or quantitative field
• Experience working within platforms tied to a major tech cloud provider
• Familiarity with modern data exploration and dashboard tools
• Previous exposure to governance, compliance, and security protocols in enterprise environments
