About this Role

The World Wildlife Fund is seeking a Senior Director, Climate Communications to join its Washington, DC office. This role will lead the development and execution of both short- and long-term external communications strategies that align with and advance WWF's climate objectives. The incumbent will work closely with various teams to ensure coherent and impactful messaging that supports resource mobilization and organizational outreach. This position requires working collaboratively with leadership to cultivate a unique brand and voice for WWF's climate change mitigation and adaptation work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic communications for the Climate Team, including message development and internal communication.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to cultivate a unique WWF brand and voice for climate change mitigation.
  • Develop and execute communications strategies to deliver climate outcomes and raise brand awareness.
  • Manage climate communications staff and coordinate with other goal teams for unified messaging.
  • Lead WWF-US participation in major climate conferences and organize events.
  • Track, share, and make recommendations regarding climate communication activities within WWF.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, environmental issues, climate change, public policy or business (post-graduate degree preferred).
  • 12-15 years of professional communications experience with strong knowledge of climate change.
  • Experience in organizing cross-team participation in climate events.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a track record of producing high-quality written content.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally (less than 10%).
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams and inform strategic goals.
