Overview

Category Leadership Manager - Walmart. This role is responsible for leading the category advisor relationship inclusive of strategy development and modular execution for designated category at Walmart. This role will lead a team of two direct reports working directly with Walmart to deliver winning category growth strategies. It works closely with our internal Category Strategy and Shopper Insight teams and cross-functional partners to create analyses of the Category landscape and implement winning category growth strategies for Walmart.

Responsibilities

  • Foster collaborative relationships with the buyer, planner, modular development, and replenishment teams at Walmart.
  • Develop actionable insights and strategies to drive winning category growth for Walmart.
  • Manage a team of 2 direct reports in support of delivering flawless category advisory execution.
  • Be the omni-channel insights leader by integrating the digital shelf and omni-insights to drive optimal assortment and space recommendations for Walmart.
  • Develop category performance scorecards and dashboards to evaluate sales distribution and category landscape activity.
  • Employ space management and automation tools (Shelf IQ) to drive modular efficiencies and accuracy.
  • Develop holistic omni-channel strategies by leveraging insights and analytics from industry-wide and retailer-specific data sources.
  • Deliver flawless modular execution and provide thought leadership on category trends and growth strategies.
  • Build influential category growth strategies by gathering and analyzing category, consumer, and market data from multiple sources (e.g., Luminate, IRI, Retail Link, shopper insights, sales data).
  • Guide the team through adoption and implementation of best-in-class category tools and resources.

What we are looking for

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years experience in CPG industry in category management related roles
  • Category advisor experience
  • People management experience
  • Track record of developing automated reporting tools and dashboards to deliver industry-leading business intelligence
  • Proficient in using syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen) and panel data
  • Proficient in Walmart Retail Link and Luminate
  • Specialized knowledge of JDA (Space planning), Windows Excel, and related software
  • Ability to think creatively to develop new solutions that enhance category leadership capabilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proactive thought leadership on industry trends
  • Strong customer management and project management skills

Additional skills and experience (not required)

  • Proficient with 3rd party data analysis (NPD, Mintel, Kantar)
  • Proficient with data visualization software (Tableau)
