Job Description:

A Tutor possesses special skills or training in a specific subject area or field, who is employed to provide individual or small group instructional reinforcement. A tutor may be a currently enrolled Polk State student or a person with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, or an equivalent number of credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university. Tutors must demonstrate proficiency in the subjects in which they tutor and have taken and passed with a grade of "B" or better in the course(s) in which they will tutor.

Essential Functions/Duties:

* Provide individual or small group instruction for students.

* Maintains confidentiality at all times regarding student, office records, and information.

* Performs all tasks with a friendly, professional work attitude at all times.

Typical Qualifications

Required Skills:

* Good reading and writing skills

* Ability to write legibly

* Ability to perform repetitive tasks with patience

* Ability to work well with a diverse student population

* Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated

* Well-developed interpersonal skills

* Good judgment

Required Education:

Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent).

Preferred Education:

A.S. degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
