RFCC is seeking a Project Manager to contribute to the development and execution of a collaborative philanthropic initiative, which will bring together several funders in support of programs that advance the integration of effective Food is Medicine interventions into the American health care system as covered reimbursable benefit. This role will be critical to activating and launching the fund and its inaugural programs, and will require working with the Fund's Steering committee, prospective donors, contractors, and grantees. The Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the operations of the fund, as well as engaging a diverse range of stakeholders who are connected to the fund through its core programs.
A successful candidate will embrace working in a ‘start up' mode and wearing several hats simultaneously during the early phases of an exciting new program. To be effective in this role, the candidate must be able to learn quickly, flourish independently even in the face of ambiguity, and excel at managing priority tasks across multiple workstreams simultaneously. They will bring an understanding of emerging issues in the field of health, nutrition and Food is Medicine, have a track record of supporting successful collaboration with a diverse set of stakeholders and recruiting new partners, be a strong communicator, and an experienced, independent project manager. The candidate should bring a passion and enthusiasm for discovering solutions that can create lasting impact and an appetite and ability to partner with a wide range of individuals to drive change.
Pay Range: $124,422 to $162,241. This represents the present low and high end of RFCC's pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.
Work Schedule: This role is a three-year fixed-term assignment. Applicants for this role will be considered for remote work or, for applicants based in Washington, D.C. or New York City on a hybrid work schedule, and coming to the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (when not traveling).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: This role will serve as a primary point of contact for the Pooled Fund and work collaboratively with RFCC, the Steering Committee, and grantees and contractors to ensure effective management and delivery of the Fund's mission and vision.
- Steering Committee Coordination and Governance:
- In close collaboration with the Steering Committee and its chair, prepare Steering Committee meetings, including agenda creation, meeting logistics, and follow-up management to ensure progress is being made on RFCC deliverables in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of Steering Committee Meetings and decisions, including funding decisions and fund strategy.
- Document lessons learned from the implementation of the FIM Pooled Fund, including key insights, successes, and challenges as well as an analysis on how the Pooled Fund advanced the Food is Medicine field.
- Fundraising, Partnerships and Communications:
- Conduct research on other potential donors and strategic partners, at both the national and state/regional level.
- Cultivate new and existing partnerships to recruit additional donors to the pooled fund and its core programs, including prospective donor outreach and meetings.
- Serve as a liaison between the Steering Committee members, Pooled Fund Funders, and Aligned Funders, providing necessary support and information as required.
- Support external convenings (inclusive of event organization, briefing reports, etc.) as needed.
- Grant and Contract Management:
- Partner with RFCC and the Steering Committee to manage grantmaking and contract processes, develop tracking systems, and create an annual calendar for review, approvals, and dissemination.
- Track targets and monitor outcomes across the Fund's initiatives.
- Serve as the liaison to the fiscal sponsor on all aspects of the grant review and contract approval processes, including due diligence, requests for information from potential grantees, legal review, compliance, reporting, and other relevant requirements.
- Monitor grants and contracts throughout their life cycle to ensure agreements are properly performed.
- Manage and maintain grant and contract files to ensure all grant-related correspondence, guidelines, and requirements are documented in the database, as well as in other files.
- Prepare documents for internal communications (quarterly reviews, reports).
Travel Requirements: The position is expected to require approximately 10% travel.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- 7+ years of working in fast-paced, non-profit or philanthropic environments.
- Ability to coordinate across complex work streams.
- Ability to coalition-build and recruit new partners.
- Experience working in philanthropy and/or grant-making preferred.
- Experience in working to advance public-private partnerships and multi-party collaborations is preferred, particularly at the state level.
- Experience working on issues related to Food is Medicine and/or nutrition in the United States.
- Demonstrated ability to apply project management skills, with a track record of managing multiple projects, deadlines, and senior stakeholders, while being nimble to react to and leverage real-time opportunities.
- Exceptional writing and verbal skills and the ability to quickly synthesize complex information from diverse sources on a range of topics and think creatively about how to use that input.
- Strong research, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Extensive experience in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to produce results aligned with organizational goals and initiatives.
