The SMT Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment used in the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) process of electronic assembly. This role ensures that printed circuit board assemblies meet internal and customer quality standards by strictly following operational procedures and maintaining accurate documentation. The operator must work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the ability to follow directions from management and leads.
  • Read, interpret, and understand Operation Sheets (Op Sheets).
  • Operate all SMT line equipment including screen printer, pick-and-place machine, reflow ovens, and automated optical inspection (AOI)
  • Use and navigate Machine Control Software (MCS) and Bar Menu systems.
  • Perform visual inspection of boards for solder quality and proper component placement.
  • Identify and communicate quality trends, reoccurring defects, or potential issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Follow all MOR Manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Suggest and resubmit redlines or updates to Op Sheets and documentation when discrepancies or improvement are identified.
  • Cleans and maintains work area and equipment, including tools.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a lean manufacturing environment with attention to continuous flow and detail.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance.
  • Consistently follow all procedures.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn production machinery.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and assembly equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.
  • Must be humble, passionate about your job, and treat others with the greatest respect.

Education and Background
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Component ID Certification or ability to obtain
  • SMT Inspection Certification, IPC-A-610, or equivalent, or ability to obtain.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time.
  • Repetitive use of hands/motion and have manual dexterity, finger dexterity, and multi-limb coordination
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Use of required PPE.

Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing plant, non-controlled climate, mechanical equipment, moving objects, fumes, odors, dirt, and dust.
  • Full-Time. Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00AM - 4:30PM. Work schedule is subject to change. May require overtime based on business needs.
