HVAC Technician

Perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the installation, inspection, repair, maintenance, and alteration of Casino heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and related equipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with the Kalispel Tribe Of Indians- State Of Washington Gaming Compact, Internal Controls, NIGC Regulations and Northern Quest Policies And Procedures.
  • Ensures the quality of the facility and equipment meets all set standards.
  • Install, diagnose, inspect, repair, maintain and service a wide variety of heating, ventilation and air condition equipment and systems.
  • Replace fans, belts, sheaves, motors, gaskets, filters, bearings, seals, compressors, electric and electronic components and lubricate parts.
  • Adjust and install switches, gauges, thermostats, valves, tubing, transformers, pressure regulators controllers, contactors, mag starters and other parts as needed.
  • Checks distribution systems for proper velocity, volume, temperatures, and pressures.
  • Add refrigerants and oil.
  • Determine requirements for parts, materials, supplies, tools, and equipment; establish cost of repairs and equipment replacement.
  • Operate specialized machinery, equipment and tools utilized in the repair and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Available and willing to work any changes in hours deemed necessary for Business Levels.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.
  • Monitor and adjust internal building pressures for smoking and nonsmoking areas.
  • Modify and or fabricate equipment parts as needed for specialty needs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years Commercial Unit Service experience preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment and design defects and to install, repair and maintain all types of heating, ventilating and air conditioning units.
  • Read and work from blueprints, shop drawings and sketches.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with department heads, associates and the public.
  • Knowledge of a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems under pressure conditions.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Certificates, Licenses, Regulations:

  • EPA Refrigerants Certification required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Work Permit.
  • HVAC Certification
  • Gas I or Gas II License.
  • Washington or Idaho State Drivers License (Must be in possession while operating a Tribal Vehicle).

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally involves light work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force to move objects.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Constantly requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time.
  • Frequently requires ascending or descending stairs, ramps and ladders.
  • Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Travel Requirements:

  • Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required. Typical travel time is generally less than a week.
