URM Stores is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Safety Manager with a proven record of implementing strategic, data-driven approaches to workplace safety, environmental compliance, and risk management. Reporting to the Director of Insurance & Safety, this leadership position plays a key role in fostering a culture where safety is not just a priority-but a deeply embedded organizational value.
The Safety Manager will enhance, implement, and manage comprehensive warehouse safety programs that align with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and industry best practices. This position is responsible for promoting safety awareness, encouraging team engagement, and driving accountability across departments while ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations.
Working closely with the Director of Insurance & Safety, the Safety Manager will conduct safety assessments, lead incident investigations, perform compliance audits, and ensure that safety programs and policies are effectively implemented to support a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs in alignment with URM's corporate EHS standards.
- Maintain strong visibility on the warehouse floor to actively promote, support, and reinforce daily safe work practices.
- Champion a proactive, positive safety culture across warehouse operations.
- Partner with the Director of Insurance & Safety and Warehouse Operations to identify, prioritize, and apply industry best practices in safety and compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to execute EHS initiatives that enhance operational performance and employee well-being.
- Ensure that EHS requirements are clearly communicated, understood, and consistently met across all facilities.
- Conduct and coordinate regular EHS inspections, self-assessments, and compliance audits in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Provide EHS oversight and risk management support during the installation or modification of equipment and processes.
- Partner with Transportation leadership to develop and implement safety programs ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other transportation safety regulations.
- Participate in and support EHS audits and environmental monitoring (e.g., noise, air quality, chemical exposure) to maintain compliance with internal and external standards.
- Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring timely reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive EHS experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Working understanding of ergonomic assessments and risk mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in food distribution, food manufacturing, or grocery operations.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation preferred.
- Familiarity with food safety standards such as GMPs, audits, and regulatory inspections (USDA, FDA).
- Ability to align EHS and food safety goals in collaboration with Quality Assurance teams.
- Experience with cold storage, temperature-controlled environments, and safe warehouse practices for perishable goods.

Salary range $80,000 - $90,000 annually DOE plus so much more!
