Job Purpose:
Assistant Director of Marketing will be responsible for development and execution of marketing plans. The Assistant Director will work closely with coaches, support staff, and student-athletes to increase awareness, attendance, and ticket sales.
Essential Functions:
- 40% - Marketing and Game Presentation
- Develop and execute marketing plans for assigned sports to drive brand awareness, attendance, and ticket sales.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate game presentation including but not limited to scripts, promotions, and recognitions.
- Work with Creative Services in execution of promotional materials and in-game content.
- Work with Gonzaga Sports Properties on sponsorship planning and fulfillment.
- Assist in development and execution of department advertising and promotion plans.
- 35% - Program Management
- Oversee Gonzaga Athletics marketing programs such as: Marketing Internship, mascot, Jr Zag Club, and student rewards.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising Marketing Interns.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, supervising mascots.
- Coordinate Jr Zag Club memberships to increase memberships and engagement.
- Manage student rewards program aimed at increasing student attendance and engagement - (Essential)
- 15% - Creative and Social Media
- Participate in creation and proliferation of social media strategy for the athletic department.
- Assist in management of Gonzaga Athletic social media sites.
- Assist Creative Services in the execution of photo and video shoots.
- 5% - NCAA Compliance
- Employees of Gonzaga University's Athletic Department must comply with all NCAA rules and regulations, and acknowledge this compliance as part of an evaluation process.
- 5% - Additional Duties as Assigned by the Department
Educational Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
Years of Related Experience Requirement:
1 year
In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.
Certifications and/or Licensures:
Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- 2 years of marketing and promotions experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent public relations and promotional skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate and work well with others
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed for various Athletic functions and events
- Adobe Creative Suite experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Business, Sports Administration, Communications, or related field
- Two (2) years of marketing and promotions experience within Athletics
- Division I football or basketball game management experience
- Higher Education experience

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $24.90
Pay Range:
- Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 24.90
- Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 31.11
- Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 37.33
