Advanced Input Systems (AIS) is a premier designer and manufacturer of Human Machine eXperience (HMX) products and solutions. We develop both standard products and OEM custom solutions across a diverse range of markets including medical, industrial, defense, and commercial. We are seeking a Process Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role supports production by developing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing processes and systems to ensure the efficient, safe, and high-quality assembly of electronic and electro-mechanical products. You will collaborate closely with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Test, and Automation Engineering teams to support new product introduction (NPI), drive continuous improvement, and ensure operational excellence across the production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a first-line technical resource to support daily production needs, including troubleshooting and optimizing manufacturing processes, test systems, and production equipment.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality and process-related issues.
  • Perform and coordinate preventive maintenance activities for production equipment; maintain equipment logs and PM schedules.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine manufacturing processes, tools, and fixtures for new and existing products.
  • Support process validation activities including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
  • Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, control plans, and process flow diagrams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput, improve quality, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
  • Participate in capital equipment planning, justification, and implementation (CAPEX).
  • Provide support for NPI builds including process definition, documentation, and operator training.
  • Contribute to APQP/PPAP activities and ensure robust process readiness for production launch.
  • Assist product development teams in prototyping and transitioning designs into manufacturable products.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and documentation to support assembly processes and test development.
Qualifications

Essential:
  • Strong technical knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and production systems.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues.
  • Understanding of ESD best practices and electronic component handling.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and inspection criteria (e.g., IPC-A-610).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and collaborative mindset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and ability to use basic statistical analysis tools.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred:
  • Experience in electronics or electro-mechanical product manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with process automation, motion control, or vision systems.
  • Ability to create or interpret test plans and equipment specifications.
  • Working knowledge of software such as LabVIEW, Visual Basic, or equivalent.
  • Exposure to CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and basic PCB layout understanding.
  • Hands-on soldering experience and IPC certification.
  • Comfort with electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Basic knowledge of device communication protocols and system integration.
Education & Experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent technical training.
    • Minimum of 6 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in electronics or high-mix, low-volume production environments.
