Who We Are:
The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC) seeks to engage our audiences in the appreciation of art, history, and culture of the Inland Northwest and beyond, through collection stewardship, exhibitions and programs that enrich and inspire. Established in 1916, the MAC is the oldest cultural organization in Spokane, Washington, and serves over 100,000 visitors each year from around the region. The museum collections contain over 63,000 objects, including the largest known collection of Plateau tribes art and artifacts.
About the Opportunity:
As a Custodian, you will help ensure the MAC remains clean, safe, and welcoming by performing daily custodial duties throughout the museum, including cleaning restrooms, floors, windows, and public areas. You will support event setup and breakdown, assist with maintaining safety during inclement weather, and provide basic security awareness to help protect visitors, staff, and museum assets. Your work will directly enhance the visitor experience and support the MAC's mission to serve as a nationally acclaimed regional cultural center.Some of What You'll Enjoy Doing Includes:
* Clean and sanitize restrooms; sweep, mop, vacuum, and restock supplies throughout the facility.
* Dust surfaces and clean windows, windowsills, elevators, and public areas.
* Empty trash and recycling, manage dumpsters, and maintain breakroom waste removal.
* Conduct litter rounds across the campus, including Campbell House, parking structure, and amphitheater.
* Maintain, organize, and order cleaning supplies monthly.
* Provide custodial support in galleries and assist facilities staff with snow and ice removal to ensure safe walkways.
* Deliver packages daily and regularly check and respond to emails.
* Support events by monitoring the MAC calendar, assisting with setup and teardown, managing cleanup and supplies during and after events, and providing excellent guest service.
* Provide backup coverage for facilities, maintenance, and security staff as needed, while monitoring public areas for safety concerns and reporting issues to the supervisor or Safety Officer.
* Other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
* Minimum age of eighteen (18).
* High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
* Ability to read and write in English.
* Ability to move or transfer up to thirty (30) pounds.
* Ability to take action to learn and grow, including adapting to change, identifying and implementing solutions, navigating systems and tools, practicing self-awareness, and taking responsibility for personal development.
* Ability to take action to meet the needs of others, including asking questions to understand needs, collaborating to solve problems, building partnerships, advocating for inclusion, and adapting communication to diverse individuals and communities.
Preferred Qualification:
* One (1) year of custodial or facilities experience.
* Knowledge of maintenance and operation of various custodial equipment
* Prior professional housekeeping or custodial experience
* Institutional or industrial custodial experience
* Customer service experience.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week), and may work some evenings or weekends as required by museum business needs and event schedules.
