Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary budget contact for 35+ County departments.
  • Plan, lead, and manage the County's annual budget process, ensuring legal compliance, accuracy, and transparency.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to department heads, elected officials, and staff throughout budget planning and execution.
  • Deliver professional training, public presentations, and analytical reports to support strategic financial decisions.
  • Forecast revenues, analyze expenditures, and prepare the County's adopted budget book for publication and public access.

Grant Oversight

  • Lead financial management of federal, state, and local grants.
  • Prepare and reconcile grant reports, billings, journal entries, and federal drawdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with OMB Circular A‑133 and prepare audit‑ready schedules.
  • Act as the County's subject matter expert on grants and support departments in maintaining audit readiness.

Audit & Reporting

  • Prepare year‑end journal entries and audit deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with at least 20 semester hours in accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in government accounting or auditing.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability required.
  • Must maintain 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE).
