Post Falls Aerospace Manufacturing Company Paint Prep Technician

Spherion Staffing has two paint prep openings for a Post Falls aerospace manufacturing company. This company is a leading supplier of high-precision components and assemblies for the global aerospace and defense industry. They are committed to unparalleled quality, innovation, and performance. Team members are the foundation of their success, and we are looking for a dedicated professional to join their world-class finishing department. We are seeking a meticulous and highly detail-oriented Industrial Paint Prep Technician to join their finishing team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for preparing high-value aircraft components and surfaces for painting.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough cleaning, degreasing, and chemical preparation (such as chemical conversion coating/Alodine) of aluminum, titanium, composite, and other metallic substrates.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work orders to apply intricate masking (using tapes, plugs, and custom-cut materials) to precise tolerances, protecting critical features from the paint process.
  • Sand, scuff, and abrade surfaces using various manual and power tools (e.g., DA sanders, orbital sanders) to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
  • Conduct visual self-inspections before and after preparation to ensure all surfaces are free of contaminants, defects, and imperfections.
  • Meticulously maintain logs and documentation for process traceability, adhering to all quality control procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols (including OSHA standards), environmental regulations (EPA), and procedures for handling hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of all prep equipment, tools, and the paint booth environment.
  • Work closely with painters, quality inspectors, and engineers to resolve any issues and ensure a smooth production workflow.

Working hours: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM

Skills: Familiarity with aerospace industry

Education: High School

Experience: 1-4 years

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial paint prep, auto body repair, or a related surface finishing role.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as blueprints, manufacturing work orders, or technical specifications.
  • Extreme attention to detail and a good commitment to quality and precision.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a "U.S. Person" as required by ITAR regulations.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
