Job Title: Automotive Technician -MID LEVEL

Job Overview:

We are looking for technicians who are energetic, upbeat, and have a positive attitude. The technicians we are looking for have to seek solutions to tough problems with a strong passion for doing what's right for our customers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Technicians use their knowledge & skills to diagnose and repair vehicles for sale.
  • Continuously build experience as an automotive technician across a wide range of domestic and foreign vehicles.
  • Complete full, accurate, and honest vehicle evaluations.
  • Work closely with the Service Manager and/or Inventory Manager to accurately. communicate needed repairs and estimates for completion.
  • Maintain accurate time keeping using electronic job clock.
  • Work as part of a team to troubleshoot difficult-to-diagnose vehicle concerns.
  • Follow and promote our high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Work together with other Technicians to solve problems, meet deadlines, and deliver distinguished results.
Qualifications:
  • Positive attitude, be teachable and have a desire to serve.
  • 3+ years of experience as an automotive technician (ASE Certification(s) a plus).
  • Ability to perform diagnostics and repairs of all makes/models of vehicles.
  • Meet or exceed hourly flat-rate and production goals.
  • Aptitude for learning additional skills and processes.
  • Professional appearance and strong communication
  • A desire for long-term career development
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis; occasionally more than 50lbs.
  • Be able to work with tools on vehicles lifted above their head.
  • Work in tight spaces as dictated by the vehicle's needed repair.
  • Have the needed dexterity in order to efficiently use hand tools.
  • Walk/stand for the majority of their workday.
  • Drive manual transmissions vehicles.
  • Efficiently navigate a computer.
Requirement:

Union Gospel Mission is a privately funded 501(c)(3) non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry. REQUIREMENTS

Daily Duties:
  • Go over assigned work with the Service Manager each morning.
  • Participate in daily devotional and/or team building meetings.
  • Produce high quality work and perform a quality control inspection on every vehicle, including test drives where necessary.
  • Communicate with the Service Manager and/or Inventory Manager regarding any questionable repairs.
  • Comply with the dealership's policy for establishing flat rate time for all repair work and maintenance services.
  • Perform all mechanical repair work in the area(s) of the shop designated by management.
  • Clock on/off every repair order using the Shop Management System to accurately reflect the amount of time spent on each job. 100% accuracy is necessary.
  • Provide complete and accurate written explanations on the repair order to describe the recommended repairs and work that was performed.
  • Provide complete vehicle information for special order parts including part details.
  • Utilize the appropriate check sheets while performing vehicle evaluations.
  • Maintain assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Participate in cleaning the group area daily before departing from work.
  • Maintain personal cleanliness and uniform standards per departmental policies.
  • Show common courtesy to all customers and dealership personnel.
  • Provide the administrative assistance necessary to complete Goodwill repair orders and other tasks assigned by management.
  • Maintain accurate company time clock activity.
Weekly Duties:
  • Pre-close Internal repair orders at the end of each week.
  • Clean all weekly assigned areas.
  • Review company time clock activity.
Other:
  • Participate in technician training as assigned by management and utilize it to the best of one's ability (active participation in the ASE Certification program is highly encouraged).
  • Work hours and break times are designated by management. It is expected that each tech will arrive in time to start working at the designated time.
  • Consistently achieve the production objectives set by management.
  • Use shop supplies and materials in a practical and economical manner. Handle all toxic chemicals and hazardous waste per dealership's policies and procedures.
