Description:

LI.FI is on a mission to simplify multi-chain DeFi for traditional financial institutions, fintechs, and service providers through a unified API that provides access to on-chain liquidity across major blockchains for optimal transactions. We are a passionate team committed to creating a fairer and more decentralized world. Beyond just tech, we prioritize user experience and strive to make complex technologies accessible to everyone.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (Cross-Chain Solver) to spearhead the design and optimization of our cross-chain solver. This role is pivotal, directly influencing our capacity for fast, reliable, and economically efficient cross-chain transactions for our users. You'll play a key role in developing core infrastructure that facilitates seamless asset movement across various blockchain networks, addressing one of the most significant challenges in the crypto space: cross-chain interoperability. We are looking for individuals with a strong backend engineering foundation, expertise in TypeScript (preferably with NestJS), and experience in statistical analysis along with data structures and algorithms. This position reports to our Technical Lead.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement a high-performance cross-chain solver that tracks and executes transactions across multiple blockchain networks.
  • Develop pricing and routing algorithms to enhance transaction throughput and capital efficiency.
  • Implement scalable and efficient liquidity management and rebalancing techniques across various chains.
  • Set up strong monitoring and alerting systems to ensure solver reliability.
  • Optimize the transaction execution logic to maintain a competitive balance between bid frequency and win rate.
  • Design robust transaction submission and management systems.
  • Establish comprehensive testing frameworks to guarantee system reliability and security.
  • Collaborate effectively with smart contract developers to integrate on-chain protocols.
  • Uphold high coding standards, perform code reviews, and implement best practices for performance, maintainability, and security.

What Makes a Good Candidate

  • 5+ years of backend development experience.
  • Strong expertise in TypeScript/NestJS.
  • Experience in statistical analysis or data science and/or a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Deep knowledge of blockchain architecture, particularly with transaction execution and mempool dynamics.
  • Proven experience in building high-throughput services.
  • Familiarity with various blockchain RPC interfaces and their idiosyncrasies.
  • A strong foundation in data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
  • Familiarity with caching solutions (e.g., Redis).
  • Strong system design acumen, with an architectural mindset.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, flexible environment.
  • Problem-solving orientation focused on practical and scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the capability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
  • Ownership mentality, curiosity, and adaptability to navigate ambiguity.

Nice to Haves

  • Proficiency in Rust.
  • Experience building a solver in a comparable environment.
  • Familiarity with cross-chain bridges or decentralized exchanges (DEXs).
  • Experience with trading systems or market making.
  • Exposure to various blockchain virtual machines (EVM, SVM, Move, etc.).

Who This Role Isn't For

  • Engineers looking to transition from backend to smart contract engineering.
  • Individuals focused on MEV.
  • Full-stack engineers currently engaged in UX or frontend development.
  • People who prefer top-down management structures with rigid task assignments.

Company Culture

  • Embracing the Differences
    • Embrace your unique differences.

  • 30 days of paid time off (PTO).
  • Flexible remote work options.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Equity participation from day one.

  • An annual personal development budget of 1,000 once you have worked with us for 6 months (prorated for the first year).
  • A one-time budget of 1,000 for remote work setup, office equipment, etc.

If you decide to join us as an independent contractor, you will be eligible for the first five benefits listed.
