# Project Manager - Job Description
## Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee the successful delivery of complex projects within our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects while ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
## Key Responsibilities
### Project Planning & Initiation
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders
- Develop comprehensive project plans including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
- Create detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) and project schedules
- Identify project risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies
- Establish project governance and communication protocols
- Define success criteria and key performance indicators (KPIs)
### Project Execution & Monitoring
- Lead project kickoff meetings and regular status updates
- Coordinate and manage cross-functional project teams
- Monitor project progress against established timelines and milestones
- Track project budgets and resource utilization
- Manage project risks and issues through proactive identification and resolution
- Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout project lifecycle
- Facilitate decision-making processes and conflict resolution
### Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders at all levels
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment with project objectives
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings, presentations, and workshops
- Address stakeholder concerns and provide timely updates
### Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, motivate, and mentor project team members
- Assign tasks and responsibilities based on team member strengths and availability
- Provide guidance and support to team members throughout project lifecycle
- Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback
- Foster a collaborative and productive team environment
- Identify training needs and development opportunities for team members
### Quality Assurance & Risk Management
- Implement and maintain quality assurance processes
- Conduct regular project reviews and quality audits
- Monitor and control project risks through proactive risk management
- Develop contingency plans for identified risks
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards and best practices
- Conduct lessons learned sessions and implement process improvements
### Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including plans, reports, and deliverables
- Prepare and present project status reports to senior management
- Create executive summaries and project dashboards
- Document project lessons learned and best practices
- Ensure proper project closure and handover documentation
- Maintain project artifacts in centralized repository
## Required Qualifications
### Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or related field
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Project Management preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification highly desirable
- Additional certifications such as PRINCE2, Agile, or Scrum Master are beneficial
### Experience
- 5+ years of project management experience in a professional environment
- 3+ years of experience managing complex, cross-functional projects
- Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget
- Experience managing projects with budgets of $500K+ and teams of 10+ members
- Experience in software development, IT, or technology projects preferred
