Position: Quality Control Supervisor

Hourly Rate Range: $28.00 - $37.00 per hour

Shift: Day Shift 5:00am to 3:30pm M-F

Swing shift hours 3:30pm to 2:00am M-F

Organization Description

This person shall be responsible for the supervision, direction and training of all shop inspectors and shall report to the Quality Control Manager. Shall work in conjunction with production supervision to ensure that effective inspection is carried out in the most efficient and timely manner.

Specific Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions

1. This person shall be responsible for the work assignments of all inspectors.
2. Verify welder and tack welder qualifications and see that proper welding procedures are used.
3. Verify correct materials by type, grade and/or heat number.
4. Perform or directly supervise the performance of all "in-house" non-destructive testing.
5. Perform visual and dimensional inspection on an as needed basis.
6. Make the Quality Control Manager aware of daily inspection results.
7. Oversee all inspections by outside agencies, including customer representatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of structural steel experience and shall have demonstrated an ability to supervise people.
• Be able to read and interpret structural detail drawings.
• Have examined through company training for bolt, weld and fabrication standards.
• Have or work toward formal training through Level II in all non-destructive testing processes routinely used in the facility. Training for this certification may be conducted internally or from an outside source as necessary.
• This person also shall have or work toward training to be an AWS Certified Welding Inspector.

Authority

This person shall have the authority to "stop work" on any project where the quality is questionable.

• Work is performed in the fabrication shop and outdoors in inclement weather.
• Some lifting required less than 50lbs.
• Hours outside of scheduled shift will be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekends.
