SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Maintenance and Operations Technician ensures that UGM Camp's facilities, grounds, vehicles, and equipment are safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for guests, campers, and volunteers. This hands-on role performs general maintenance, mechanical repairs, and custodial tasks, supervises and motivates volunteers, and assists with building projects and special maintenance initiatives. This position requires a self-starter with the ability to follow instructions, a willingness to work occasional weekends, and the ability to operate vehicles, camp equipment, and hand/power tools safely.

Key Result Area #1: FACILITIES MAINTENANCE
• Repair and maintain electrical systems including light fixtures, switches, outlets, and circuit breakers.
• Perform plumbing work, including repairing leaks, unclogging drains, and installing fixtures.
• Conduct carpentry, painting, wall repair, flooring repair, and door hardware maintenance.
• Assist with roof, fence, and concrete repairs when necessary,
• Document maintenance and repair of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
• Perform custodial tasks, including floor care using buffers, scrubbers, mops, and cleaning chemicals.

Key Result Area #2: GROUNDS MAINTENANCE
• Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and general campgrounds, including snow removal, mowing, raking, and debris removal.
• Repair and maintain outdoor systems including sprinklers, fences, docks, and boat facilities.
• Maintain landscaping equipment, vehicles, and camp machinery in operating condition.

Key Result Area #3: SPECIAL PROJECTS & CONTRACTOR COORDINATION
• Assist on building remodeling, and other camp projects.
• Work alongside contractors on special projects as needed.
• Welding may be required on certain projects.

Key Result Area #4: VOLUNTEER & GUEST SUPPORT
• Motivate and supervise volunteers during maintenance and grounds projects.
• Ensure camp guests and weekend rental participants receive safe, well-maintained facilities.
• Communicate safety guidelines and camp expectations clearly to volunteers and guests.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Valid Washington or Idaho driver's license. Required.
• CPR/First Aid certification. Required.
• Criminal background check clearance. Required.
• Valid driver's license; insurable by UGM. Required.
• Self-starter with ability to follow instructions and manage multiple tasks/projects. Required.
• Willingness to work occasional weekends during camp rental season. Required.
• Ability to lift up to 65 pounds and perform physically demanding work outdoors and indoors. Required.
• General carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills. Preferred.
• Welding skills for maintenance and construction projects. Preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors on special projects. Preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (written, oral, instructional). Expected.
• Teachable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities. Expected.
• Demonstrates care for creating a safe, functional, and welcoming environment. Expected.
• Participate in the spiritual life of the camp through Bible study, prayer, and modeling Christ-centered behavior. Expected.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
• Work indoors and outdoors, sometimes in extreme weather conditions. Frequently.
• Climbing ladders, bending, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, and going from building to building is required. Continuously.
• Exposure to electricity, moving machinery, and chemicals. Frequently.
• High stamina and energy required. Continuously.
• Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina. Continuously.
• Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly. Continuously.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
• Hand and power tools, ladders, scaffolding, paint equipment.
• Driving vehicles: trucks, trailers, boats, and small utility vehicles.
• Grounds and landscaping equipment: mowers, snow blowers, trimmers, blowers.
• Cleaning equipment: buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, vacuums.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Required.
• 5+ years' experience of building, grounds, and vehicle maintenance experience. Preferred.
